The latest WordPress 2.5 is now ready for download after the long delay finally it’s now ready to rock and roll with it’s much awaiting features are an all new customizable dashboard with dashboard widgets, tag management, concurrent editing protection, support for multi-file upload, one-click plugin upgrades, faster load times, built-in galleries and much more.
And for the Geek among Us. Here is the new features that will play in your mind and make your brains rolling- the salted passwords(phpass), Secure cookies, Easy taxonomy and URL creation, Inline documentation, Database optimization , $wpdb->prepare(), Media buttons, Shortcode API and much more
While we’re excited about the above features, let be warned that before you upgrade, make sure you have the latest back-up of your blog. Also its better if you upgrade deactivate all your plugins to make sure you there are no incompatibility problems. Unlike previous releases, this Wordpress upgrade involves some database changes too. So make sure you follow the official Wordpress instructions while upgrading. Below is some of the upgrade notes:
The upgrade instructions for this version are pretty much the same as any other version. The most important thing to check is your plugins, so if for example everything works except the new uploader, a legacy plugin might be causing a javascript error on the page and breaking it. If something goes wrong, the safest thing to do is turn your plugins off (we have a button to do them all at once, now) and turn them back on one-by-one, testing the problem along the way. This has solved almost everybody’s problems in testing, and it also lets you know which plugin author to show some love to so they’ll update their plugin, and which plugin authors already have so you can shower them with praises on your blog.
I can’t wait to upgrade my WordPress now, but I will still for a while for I don’t know much about programming it’s hard to lost all my blog in just one wrong move. And one thing is I’m also running an Auction now and deactivate it will lost my bidder. So I just chill for now.
BTW the Wordpress.org site has also been redesigned and it looks amazing with the new colors and design.
