My Worklog in Theme Modding

theme My Worklog in Theme Modding

Since I start changing my theme and doing some tweak with my recent theme, I found a lot of weird stuff in my theme code. The coding format is not so clear (wordpress standard) and clean. So I need to read what the theme designer thinking when his creating this theme. Though the site is almost ready and only need some tweaks to suit in my personality and topic that I post. As you can see the header is still looks amateur and very noobz looking style. His style is really hard to decode and not so standard. So to get all things done I make some checklist and list some of the solution I did. Hoping this might help to some noobz blogger with limited xhtml and css knowledge like me.
Here’s my Work log:
1. Look for Theme that suit to your needs and style.
2. Verify the website where you going to get your Theme.
(I will discuss this to my next post in a day or two, keep posting you won’t believe what I found. If you haven’t yet check the innards of your theme).
3. Study the structure of theme, the .php, .css and the image been use to represent the looks and style of the theme.
4. Edit the header.php which for sure you want to show your logo and Blog name. (Too bad for me, I’m having a hard time to put my blog name and I still dont get enough time to do this. Hopefully this coming weekend).
5. Edit sidebar.php, or maybe add some textfile.
6. Edit index.php or whatever he called the main template file.
7. Edit the style.css, in my case he call it master style.css. Which of course involve the the three .php above.
8. Edit the footer.php and put your copyrights, site name, word up for the theme designer and wordpress or make some more design, like ads and links maybe.
9. Make sure you have a clean coding and faster loading time Pages.
10. Sort and put all necessary tidbits, badges and ads in a nice and better effective places in your frontpage.
