Toys ‘R Us – Philippines

toysrus Toys R Us Philippines

I didn’t know that Toys ‘R Us is already in the Philippines (more than a year ago) and owned by Robinsons Inc. my former employer when I was still in the Philippines and all my homies still working there (some are already the store planning manager). When I heard it in the Philippines based TV news program play here in Canada I was suprise and happy. So I google it out immediately, to know when it was been open and where is all the branches located. And of course I immediately email ‘Mariel” one of my homies (contact) in the Robinsons and ask him a lot of question about it. I’m so curious who design it, how it looks and who handle the supervision in the construction phase. Because that was I usually do when I was still in Store planning dept. of Robinsons, I really miss that time, the smell of construction, getting along with the workers, night out and feeling like a boss even its only during the construction phase of the project.

I remember when Robinsons start planning to have their own Toys Store, I’m just a newbies in the company back then. The name of there first toys store was “All About Toys” and it was in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, though it wont go well. It was my first project in the company. I created the details design while my homies making all the theme designs. It was also my first time to be assigned in project supervision on-site. The site was just a tricycle ride away to Enchanted Kingdom Theme Park, but I never get a chance to be there at that time. Too busy in the project? I don’t know. This project is where I can say I gained a lot of confidence and experience in my field in Architecture. I really miss the construction, until now.

Toys ‘R Us Philippines open last July 1, 2006, located in Robinsons Galleria 4th floor.

PSP is Filipino Toplist for Christmas

psppack.thumbnail PSP is Filipino Toplist for Christmas

I was watching Filipino news last night and they features all the toys that Filipino is crazy about and whats on the Filipino wish list this Christmas. Amazingly its the PSP thats in the toplist and the Transformers action figures. I’m not sure about Nintendo DS, but one of my friend told me, one of the reason was its too expensive to make backups games to work in DS and you need to shell out extra money to run Homebrew apps and backups games like using of R4 Revolution, unlike PSP all you need is a custom firmware by Dark-Alex or M33 that you can download for free and your good to go. I remember last year when I was in the Philippines how the ISO games sell rampantly in almost every mall in the Philippines, the price tags range from P500.00 to P1,000.00 depend on how many games you want. I can’t believe why they sell it that much expensive since they only get it for free using Bittorrent. When this news about piracy of games in the Philippines spread in the internet, almost all site even the one with no care in PSP scene you can can find an article about the piracy. I’m so glad that the Philippines government is never stop cleaning up all those pirates in the street, but of course for sure pirates only move places but their business still going. Even in legal website you can find them there. One thing that also shock me is the price of PSP Console units, its really way expensive compare to US price, my friends say that the price now of PSP is P12,500.00 (almost US$300.00). So if you need the one that is already flashed, Homebrew capable units you need at least P15,000.00 to enjoy PSP, with 1,000 ISO games included in DVD format as a packages. Being a gamer all I can say is “If you like it, Buy it (orig. games). Say No to Piracy!, but protect your rights.

Real Gear Meantime real watch Tutorial

0 Real Gear Meantime real watch Tutorial
Last weekend my two years olds son’s sleep early like 9:00pm than his usual sleeping time of 11:00pm, which give me a chance to work on this Toy modding. The project is to mod my own Transformers Real Gear Meantime (action figure) and make it a real Watch, it was based on Jin Saotome’s tutorial which I posted here in my blog a month ago. A very simple job but it demands your focus or else you might loss the small parts. So by the time that my son sleep, I got my tools ready, prepared my working table (a.k.a. Dining Table, too bad I don’t have a workshop), open the packaging of my Transfomers and the watch that i bought in Circuit City for 20 bucks. Then I start modding, so every step that I done I’ll take a picture of it so that I can also share this project to all transformers fans who is hiding among us. With those pictures I created this How-To-Tutorial Video for them to follow along and for them to find out how easy this modding to do. Actually it’s only takes me 1hour to finish this modding and of course with the help of Jin’s tutorial. So keep on modding. Enjoy!!!
