Surely, Eee PC caught your attention. It’s super-compact size and weight, surprisingly decent feature set, Linux OS and $499 price tag all ensured the Eee PC found favour well outside its intended target audience of school kids. Travellers and tech tinkerers alike have adopted the Eee PC as a brilliant little ‘second PC’, and in some cases even a second laptop.
But after all the rumors a month ago, finally HP release their “Eee PC Killer”. The HP Compaq 2133 “lifestyle accessory” features a big, scratch resistant 8.9-inch 1366 x 766 (WXGA) display, ExpressCard/54 slot, Wireless LAN, nearly full-sized QWERTY (95% of full), integrated webcam, and optional SSD in a 2.5-pound anodized aluminum sex pot running Vista or Linux. Or so say the tipped images. Funny how the once keyboard-less UMPC-class device has now morphed into an Eee PC-like mini.

Here’s some of the description I found in the net.

The notebook itself looks more like Apple’s classic 12in PowerBook G4, thanks to clean lines and an anodised aluminium chassis, although this plays some part in tipping the weight to 1.2kg. The 8.9in widescreen panel runs at a squint-worthy 1366 x 766 (WXGA), includes a tiny webcam and is perched above keyboard that HP claims is 95% of full size.

It also has boasts technology handed down from more conventional notebooks, such as a Gigabit Ethernet and 3D accelerometer to protect the hard drive from sudden knocks and shocks. That won’t be an issue if you choose the optional solid state drive, although we don’t yet know its capacity (but we’ll take a punt on 8GB).
