toshiba_hddvd HD-DVD and Blu Ray War.. is Over

I don’t know if I really need to post this topic which for sure is all over the internet now and newspapers around the world and I’m a bit late to post this. But the one that concern me is the fact that if you own it already and your one of those early adopter. Toshiba can only say “sorry” for you. No luck for you to refund or any sweeteners to those who are casualty by the death of the format war. But Toshiba promised to provide full product support and after-sales service for all existing HD DVD owners who are now left with obsolete home entertainment systems.

Today this is what “Toshiba Australia general manager Mark Whittard said.”

“There is nothing wrong with the products so we aren’t accepting returns from customers,” Whittard said in a press conference announcing the discontinuation of HD DVD.

“They [customers] understood that there were two competing formats and understood that one of them would probably prevail … so they made the decision to go with HD DVD.”

On the other side, here’s the good news if you think it is. Circuit City put the Toshiba HD DVD players “HD-A3″ on Sale for $99.99 and comes with seven free titles, two of which are 300 and Bourne Identity.
So if you want to have some piece of history, this the moment your been waiting for, hop in. But may I suggest just holding out a wee bit longer it would actually be in your wallet’s best interest. Let every body sing, War is over. Consumers Win!

i blogged abt the same issue as well. u can’t blame toshiba as it’s business sense to stop the hd dvd production seeing that it’s losing out. it’s always the case of “buyers beware” being quoted in court cases too.

That was true Johnny, in the first place people know that for sure one of them will back down, it’s either the blu ray or HD-DVD. The only thing is HD-DVD loss the battle and consumers who adopt early affected in the case.
